Novelistic spin-offs were greenlit and — in the wild and wooly infancy of the Internet — numerous fan-based web sites popped up to deconstruct the series’ mythology and create new stories based on its characters, which included forensic pathologist Natalie (Catherine Disher) and Nick’s nemesis Lacroix (Nigel Bennett).</p>
<p>With its popularity waning (a big part of its early success was its vampiric time slot, let’s be honest), the third “season” of <i>Forever Knight</i> introduced <b>a new cast of supporting characters in an effort to liven up the usual sordid spate of demonic dog and occult-themed murder investigations</b>. While still spinning these stories back into remembrances of transgressions past, and of course still playing out the perpetual antipathy between Nick and Lacroix, new plot strands included a new night shift police captain, Joe Reese (Blu Mankuma), and a new partner for Nick, Tracy Vetter (Lisa Ryder). Tracy would then become a romantic interest for new vampire in town, Javier Vachon (Ben Bass), further complicated Nick’s cluttered, shrunken world.</p>
<p>Presented in full screen, with digitally remastered audio and video, <i>Forever Knight The Trilogy: Part Three</i> brings the series to a fitting conclusion, even if <b>it feels like a dry docking most of the time</b>. Supplemental extras include only a slate of bonus previews for other Sony releases and three somewhat sappy music videos. This isn’t the show at its creative peak (that would be its initial, devil-may-care run), but longtime fans will be happy to at least get some closure. <b>C- (Show) C+ (Disc)</b></p>
