, which had me in stitches for various reasons… perhaps not least of which because I was and still presently am high on nitrous oxide:</p>
<p>“<i>Capricorn One</i> is a fascinating, <i>All the President’s Men</i>-meets-<i>Independence<br />
Day</i> kinda popcorn flick. <b>It’s Peter Hyams so you know it’ll be kinda crappy but<br />
have good helicopter stunts.</b> Jerry Goldsmith does his thing with the music. It’s<br />
<b>about a fake landing on the planet Mars and the political cover-up that goes<br />
along with that</b>… then it turns into a chase movie about that. Elliot Gould<br />
shows up about halfway through as the sleazy reporter searching for the truth,<br />
but his plot (like everybody else’s) is kinda given short shrift. O.J. Simpson<br />
is in it too. It does feature <b>some amazingly long and pretty good “actorly” monologue<br />
scenes about things both grand and mundane that are kinda nifty and not seen so<br />
often anymore</b>. And it too is about life in a post-movie world, if that makes<br />
sense. Not too shabby — but, man, does the ending tick me off.<o:p></o:p>”</p>
