It’s a happy birthday to Billy Bob Thornton, who turns 52 today. I’m not sure what the hell happened to Mr. Woodcock,
his comedic collaboration with Susan Sarandon and Seann William Scott
previously slated for release this past January, but on the surface the
latter should prove a more interesting foil than Jon Heder in School for Scoundrels, which was kind of all over the map.
Regardless of whether or not he’s truly taking sly digs at his ex-wife, Thornton is a great interview because of his folksy bluntness — just a genuine, down-to-Earth type of guy.
He one time phoned a colleague of mine for an interview about his debut
CD, recalled talking to me from about four months earlier and then,
though I assured him he could phone back, proceeded to chat movies with
me for 10-15 minutes, until my late-arriving colleague showed up.
