Screen International‘s Mike Goodridge has up a nice interview with Anil Kapoor, of Slumdog Millionaire, in which the 49-year-old actor-producer talks about his 10-episode arc on the eighth season of Fox’s 24, the English language version of his 2007 production Gandhi, My Father, and what sort of changes he sees for the Indian film industry.

Seems like an interesting guy. I don’t think he is going to have much luck cracking into the American film industry on a sustained level, though. As a character actor, sure, but not a consistent lead. Same thing with the success of Slumdog — I think it has more to do with the movie and its marketing job than Americans suddenly being more willing to expand their horizons and explore Bollywood and other foreign cinema.
