It’s a little over a week old, but FilmStew has a piece taking a look at Maxim Magazine‘s Pete Hammond, whose hearty endorsements headline many a movie ad. The interesting thing that it notes is that a lot of times Hammond’s rather effusive quotes are taken out of context, which is at least different from the Earl Dittmans of the world, who pen no actual reviews and generally seem to string together seven to 10, hyphen-laden adjectives for anything that contains moving images and is in focus. It hints at the collusion and complicity between studio publicity apparatchiks and certain outlets, this piece, something I’d like to explore in longer form at some point down the road. At any rate, for the blog piece, click here.
