The director of Thirteen and Lords of Dogtown, Catherine Hardwicke (above, left) was hardly the most obvious choice for The Nativity Story, New Line's chronicling of the story of Mary's miraculous conception and her trek to Bethlehem with young husband Joseph. And once selected, she never thought she'd be dealing with donkey hemorrhoids. But filmmaking is full of wonderful little surprises, so there you go.
